The Aspen Mother Puckers were started in 1974 when a group of women decided that playing hockey was a lot more fun than sitting in the stands.  With the help of John McBride and few other resourceful gentlemen, the Mother Puckers took to the ice at the “new” Aspen Ice Garden and never looked back.  There are now two teams wearing the signature Pucker lips on their sweaters, an “A” and a “B” team that play games as part of the WACH hockey league.  These teams continue the tradition of women’s hockey in the area, as well as providing some great entertainment at their home games.  It’s not quite the Pepsi Center, but the seats are close to the ice and absolutely free!
